Around the Block oil on canvas 7"x18"
My husband ran across this childhood treasure in his parents basement after many years of separation! It seemed this old truck must be memorialized in paint, with all it's rust, dents and scratches vouching for how well-used and loved it was. It was a journey to a past era, for me as well.

A little more bragging.....
As if the book isn't enough, here's the brand new issue of Southwest Art Magazine, May 2010. It has a nice long article about Jim Lamb with quite a few samples of his paintings. It is a great honor to have work featured on the cover, so I am definitely proud. Check it out at any bookstore until the end of May.
Just a little bragging.......
Just a little bragging. Jim Lamb, my husband, has a new book. It's a collaboration with a life long friend who is a writer. Jim's paintings are paired with Tom Martin's poetry impressions of the California landscape. We lived in California for years, and loved the beauty that is so distinctive, from the beaches to wine country and more. The book is lovely and affordable and I highly recommend it!
Arthur
Spring lambs! I went on a mission in March to a farm where I had often spotted sheep grazing. I wanted to see some new lambs. I learned the year before that lambs come early, sometimes when it still seemed more like winter than spring. So I wasn't about to miss it 2 years in a row. I drove in, unannounced, to Aldarra Farms near Carnation, and the owners showed me their 2 week-old lambs. This one had a name, a twin whose mama hadn't enough milk for both. So, Arthur got the 'boot'. But because he was bottle fed, he was people-bonded, and wasn't a bit skittish, like the others. He let me take as many pictures as I wanted! Delightful. Postscript: Aldarra Farms is now a beautiful housing development, but without a single lamb. Sigh.
Amaryllis
Flowers amaze me. I always have them around. But for painting, they don't stay still enough for me. It's incredible how much a cut flower will move around. They turn and seek the light. Tulips grow taller! They drape and arch beautifully one day and stand tall the next.
These amaryllis did no such thing, cutting me some slack. I am a frustratingly slow painter, if that's a word. In any case, this majestic flower has such a short window of time to show off, like December and January. If you don't catch it then, you miss it until next year. I didn't do it justice, but my friend liked enough to buy it off my easel. Lucky me.

Group Hug

I thought I'd knock this one off. I just saw it in my mind, in it's finished state. Really, I should never make assumptions about the process and I should know that. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed tying that red twine at the end.

Donuts & Milk
At the time I painted this, I was taking classes from a young accomplished painter, Tenaya Sims. http://www.georgetownatelier.com/instructor.html His training is very classical, which I love. So with his voice in my head, I painted and this came out. Some paintings just come together. This was one of them. Like my brushes had fairy dust on them.

Radishes on Red
I got this new red plate that was begging to be in a painting. And these radishes seemed right at home on it. They lose their luster easily, so I had to keep the spray bottle handy so I could remember why they are so dramatic and beautiful! This painting is currently at the Cole Gallery in Edmonds,WA. http://www.colegallery.net/searchresults.php?artistId=1082&start=7

Brown Eggs
school just drawing eggs! A little crazy, maybe, but an egg is
deceiving in its simplicity. Universal, yet each one is unique in
some small way. Delicate yet strong, elemental & elegant.

Cheese Tower 9x12" Oil on Canvas
I don't have a website right now. I had a very lovely one designed by a talented friend. However, I was not successful at self-maintenance, and I let it get out of date. Extremely out of date. So this is my attempt to at least leave a vapor trail in cyberspace. At least until I get good and resolved to stay in real time.

Green Olives
These shiny little globes are the full of possibilities. There
might be a party in the making, or at least a martini. Much of my
attraction to painting food is due to the fun that accompanies it.
This painting is available at the Cole Gallery, Edmonds, WA.

Room Service
This painting was done some time ago but it remains
one of my favorites. Food is the subject that makes its
way to my canvas most frequently.
