Amaryllis

Flowers amaze me. I always have them around. But for painting, they don't stay still enough for me. It's incredible how much a cut flower will move around. They turn and seek the light. Tulips grow taller!  They drape and arch beautifully one day and stand tall the next.
These amaryllis did no such thing, cutting me some slack. I am a frustratingly slow painter, if that's a word. In any case, this majestic flower has such a short window of time to show off, like December and January. If you don't catch it then, you miss it until next year. I didn't do it justice, but my friend liked enough to buy it off my easel. Lucky me.
