As if the book isn't enough, here's the brand new issue of Southwest Art Magazine, May 2010. It has a nice long article about Jim Lamb with quite a few samples of his paintings. It is a great honor to have work featured on the cover, so I am definitely proud. Check it out at any bookstore until the end of May.

Just a little bragging.......
Just a little bragging. Jim Lamb, my husband, has a new book. It's a collaboration with a life long friend who is a writer. Jim's paintings are paired with Tom Martin's poetry impressions of the California landscape. We lived in California for years, and loved the beauty that is so distinctive, from the beaches to wine country and more. The book is lovely and affordable and I highly recommend it!
Arthur
Spring lambs! I went on a mission in March to a farm where I had often spotted sheep grazing. I wanted to see some new lambs. I learned the year before that lambs come early, sometimes when it still seemed more like winter than spring. So I wasn't about to miss it 2 years in a row. I drove in, unannounced, to Aldarra Farms near Carnation, and the owners showed me their 2 week-old lambs. This one had a name, a twin whose mama hadn't enough milk for both. So, Arthur got the 'boot'. But because he was bottle fed, he was people-bonded, and wasn't a bit skittish, like the others. He let me take as many pictures as I wanted! Delightful. Postscript: Aldarra Farms is now a beautiful housing development, but without a single lamb. Sigh.
Amaryllis
Flowers amaze me. I always have them around. But for painting, they don't stay still enough for me. It's incredible how much a cut flower will move around. They turn and seek the light. Tulips grow taller! They drape and arch beautifully one day and stand tall the next.
These amaryllis did no such thing, cutting me some slack. I am a frustratingly slow painter, if that's a word. In any case, this majestic flower has such a short window of time to show off, like December and January. If you don't catch it then, you miss it until next year. I didn't do it justice, but my friend liked enough to buy it off my easel. Lucky me.
